Katie & John’s Wedding

Montgomery County Wedding

As I gear up for all of my upcoming weddings, mitzvahs, proms, and other events this spring, I enjoy looking back and writing about the many great parties I was involved in as the DJ over this past year. I worked at many new venues in 2010, and one place I looked forward to working was the Elkins Estate.

In my line of work, I meet a lot of couples in love. I could tell right away that Katie and John cared very much for each other (and no, I don’t always say that).   In our meetings prior to the wedding, the bride and groom would constantly exchange smiles, winks, touching one another and I even caught them playing footsies underneath the conference table. The bride and groom were excited and their eyes lit up as we sat and discussed the dance music we would play during the wedding reception.

The evening of the wedding finally came, and we rocked out that huge mansion. The father of the bride laid down the law when he gave his toast, “I want to see everyone out there dancing and having a good time, or you will have to answer to me!” The large group erupted in laughter after Katie’s dad finished his toast. After dinner was over, the dancing started. A soul train broke out, as I played Hang On Sloopy by the McCoys and continued as Mony Mony by Tommy James and The Shondells was slammed in the mix.  This was a great event and hopefully something that Katie and John, along with their family and friends, can look back on with the fondest of memories.

This wedding also marked the first time I got to work with Provence Catering.  Pam, Trish, and the rest of the team did a super job.   I look forward to doing a lot more parties together with your team in the future.  The lighting was done by Eventions Productions.  Their crew did a great job enhancing the ballroom with up lights and a dance floor wash.  Natalya from Christopher Alexandra Photography, as always, did a great job. Natalya and her husband Jamie are great photographers.   I’ve done events with them a few times in 2010 and look forward to working side by side again in 2011. Most importantly thanks to Katie and John for choosing me to be a part of your special day.
