Fletcher’s Bar Mitzvah

This past December I had the honor of being the MC/DJ for Fletcher’s Bar Mitzvah, held at the McCall Golf and Country Club in Upper Darby, just outside of Philadelphia.  This is the second Mitzvah that we did for this particular family, having provided the entertainment for sister Macy’s Bat Mitzvah several years earlier (click here for the review).

Although a Bar Mitzvah and a Bat Mitzvah party are similar in most aspects with the exception of gender, they can often times vary in the party structure.  Often times, a Bat Mitzvah will be more weighted towards dancing, and a Bar Mitzvah more game and activity centric, but in the case of Fletcher’s Bar Mitzvah – where the boys outnumbered the girls by almost three to one – this wasn’t necessarily the case.  Fletcher and his friends were out on the dance floor as much as they were playing games, and were enthusiastic to participate in whatever was going on at the party.

From the beginning of the party (cocktail hour), our staff engaged the young people in a separate “kids cocktail” area, where they also were treated to green-screen party favors provided by Amazing Productions.  As the party went on, the adults really got into the swing of things, joining in and adding to the festive spirit.

Being that it was my second time working with this family (particularly with Mom), she had a great deal of confidence in myself and my staff, and really kind of let us do our thing.  Between their fun guests who came to party, and our energetic party staff, things were pretty much non-stop all afternoon, filled with smiles and laughter.

Like Fletcher’s Bar Mitzvah, Macy’s Bat Mitzvah was also held at the McCall Golf and Country Club, which is not only a great facility, but their staff does a phenomenal job and are very flexible with what was a fluid timeline.  Another returning face was Photographer Joel Perlish – a great colleague and old friend – whom I’ve known and worked with often over the past two decades.

Great family, great party, great event professionals, and of course, one great Bar Mitzvah kid.
