DJ, Dancers, & Matt’s Bucks County Bar Mitzvah
On February 11, 2012, I had the pleasure of being the MC and DJ at a Bar Mitzvah for one very cool kid. Not only was he awesome, but his family was equally cool. Now, I might be a bit biased in that I’ve known this family for a few years now through Camp America Day Camp, where I work during the summer months as a division leader. Matthew and his brother are campers there, and their mom, Stacy, is one of the lifeguards.
I could tell that this was going to be an amazing party from the time we got together for our wrap-up meeting. As we began the process of going over our music selections, I was given strict instructions not to play any music older than the 70’s. In fact – based on the list that I received – 90% of it consisted of current hits.
As early as Cocktail Hour, it was clear that we were in for a rocking party, as the kids were already dancing non-stop. I turned to my dancers (Nate and Jess), and exchanged knowing glances, acknowledging that we all knew this was going to be a great party. The kids truly gave my dancers a run for their money, as they were some of the best and most enthusiastic dancers I had ever seen at a party. They definitely had some help, as Matthew – the Bar Mitzvah – is an amazing gymnast, and so were quite a few of his friends. I could tell because of how natural dancing came to them. At one point, I turned to my DJ, Adam, as we were both blown away that the kids continued to dance for the entire party.
When we opened the doors after cocktails, the adults joined the kids on the dance floor and the party started right away. We had people dancing all night. The floor was packed and we had a great time. When it was time for Coke and Pepsi, we even had a few adults teams join in. Sorry… they didn’t win. They came close but it came down to the brothers facing off.
Thank you Matthew, Adam, Stacy and David for letting me be a part of your Simcha. Mazel Tov, you’re an amazing family. I hope you had as good a time as my staff and I had. As always, it was a pleasure to work with Northampton Valley Country Club. Thank you to Chorus Photography for these amazing images.
