Tony and Sarah’s Bucks County Wedding… and DJ

I have been working with Cutting Edge Entertainment for nearly sixteen years now, and I have literally grown up with many of the employees here, having witnessed them go through so many of life’s big changes. The “old guys” of Cutting Edge, are now approaching the age where we need to “settle down” and keeping the partying to our clients affairs. This time, it was Tony Donato’s turn. Many who meet Tony, who works in our office, are unaware that he has produced many memories for our clients for years before retiring to the office duties at Cutting Edge. That is what makes Tony such a great asset to our Customer Service and Sales team; the years of experience of performing at many weddings.

When Tony decided to settle down, he found himself one of the most genuinely nice (and beautiful) people I have met, along with two amazing kids. As a friend first and co-worker second to Tony, when it came time for him to “tie the knot”, he approached me and asked if I would do the honors of MC’ing his wedding. I was happy he would come to me and I guess he was confident that he taught me well during his tenure as an MC and myself as his DJ for so many years.

The reception was to be held at Celebrations in Bucks County. Celebrations carries an old Hollywood-esqe vibe. Very classy, clean, and big enough for a large Italian family with lots of friends. Many of Tony and Sarah’s friends and family I have met before and some of which are fellow co-workers at Cutting Edge. While it was an honor to be asked to be the MC of the party, it was a little nerve racking to see so many familiar faces in the crowd. However, this also gave me a sense of security as I knew what the crowd was into and could be a little bit more liberal in my song selections.

Tony and Sarah were fortunate enough to have a more intimate wedding ceremony in Italy prior to this celebration. They wanted this party to be a bit more relaxed and more for the friends and family who could not be there with them in Italy when they first exchanged vows. The party started with a cocktail hour served up with a smattering of “mob hits” from Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, some more traditional Italian songs, and, Tony’s favorite, a little bit of R&B and Motown soul.

When cocktail hour wrapped up in the bar area adjacent to the banquet room, we introduced the new husband and wife into the room where they took their first dance, as now official in the United States, husband and wife. Celebrations is known for their food, excellent service, and attention to details. This showed throughout the event as the entrees were served, stories told, and smiles exchanged.

The room itself was enhanced with our LED up lighting. In alternating colors of blue and purple the room took on a warm glow and gave it a nice ambiance to its classy décor during dinner. After dinner concluded and the house lights were turned down the up lighting gave the room that party vibe that encouraged people to get out on the dance floor.

The dance floor filled up quickly, which was no surprise knowing the carpet cutters that were in attendance. While playing some of the jams which Tony and Sarah’s friends loved, we made sure to get in some real oldies and those Italian classics for our older guests. Everyone had a turn on the dance floor and kept it warm all the way to the end. For the first time, Tony got to be a guest at his own wedding.
