Courtney and Steve’s Philadelphia Wedding
Last month I had the opportunity to DJ the wedding of Courtney and Steve. The wedding was held at a venue called “Trust” in Old City Philadelphia. Many years ago, Trust was the building where the reality show “The Real World” was filmed. Since then, it has become a popular venue for weddings and will soon become a restaurant, so as this happened to be my first time there as a Wedding DJ, there is a good chance it will be my last. Although it is a pretty cool building, I believe it is the food and entertainment that make a great wedding reception. Speaking of which, at this event I worked with Liz and the staff from Feastivities, a catering company that myself and the staff of Cutting Edge Entertainment work with fairly often. We enjoy working with Dan, Liz, Megan, and the rest of the talented team at Feastivities, and we are looking forward to many upcoming events we have with them in the coming months. Now, while the food and entertainment will make a wedding reception great, it takes a talented photographer to be able to capture the night in beautiful imagery. For this event I worked with two amazing photographers, both Aaron and Cheryl of Aaron Mitchell Photography. I cannot say enough good things about Aaron and Cheryl, as they do a fabulous job.
This was a special wedding for me, because I knew the bride and two of her bridesmaids. In fact, we pretty much grew up together from Valley Elementary to Bensalem High School class of 1999. The groom I know from a mutual friend we both share as well. My job is not just to go out and play music at people’s weddings, but also to make my clients feel comfortable and confident in my abilities. The best way for this to happen is by simply giving the bride and groom the chance to get to know me, and me them. By spending hours between meetings (at least two), phone conversations, and on occasions video conferences, my clients get a clear picture of exactly what they are getting at their wedding. Since I already knew Courtney and Steve, that part of my job was no problem at all. They gave me pretty much free reign on the music, and it made being the Wedding DJ a lot of fun. Although there were a lot of spots in the building to just hang out, once dinner ended all the attention was focused on the dance floor. Where else would you be, especially, when you have the bride, groom, parents and bridal party rocking out?
This was an awesome wedding, and I had so much fun being a part of it. Thank you so much to Courtney and Steve, I look forward to keeping in touch. Congratulations!
