U.S.Y. DJ Dance Party
On Wednesday November 24th of 2010 – the night before Thanksgiving – I had the opportunity to DJ the ‘Turkey Trot’ at Congregation Beth El Synagogue in Voorhees, New Jersey. The Turkey Trot is a teen dance, sponsored by the U.S.Y. (United Synagogue Youth), and it gives the kids a chance to get out and party the night before Thanksgiving. Growing up, I was involved in U.S.Y. and went to many of their events, socials and dances, and looking back, I always hoped to get the chance to DJ one of their dances… and I finally did. Cutting Edge Entertainment does many school and teen dances over the course of a year, and while music constantly changes, we do a great job with keeping up to date with the newest trends in dance and music. Most of the time we get new music before it even hits the radio airwaves, so we are always prepared with the latest hit songs.
As soon as the kids came into the room, I knew this was going to be a fun night. I played all the newest music from Rihanna, then a little Taio Cruz, and of course the Black Eyed Peas. I even had a chance to go a little old school when I played the Cotton Eyed Joe and Everybody by the Backstreet Boys. I’m no photographer, but I snapped a shot of the dance floor from behind my DJ booth. There were approximately five hundred kids in attendance, and all of them were on the dance floor the entire night.
A big Thanks to Chai Respes and all of the other advisers and chaperons at the dance for all their help. And of course another thank you to all of the cool kids at the dance – you guys were awesome and I hope to see you all at the next dance real soon.
